7 Writing Prompts to Get You Into Content Creation Mode

Do you ever feel like you’re constantly getting writer’s block? You sit down at your laptop only to see a blank screen staring you in the face and the ideas just aren’t flowing… If you’ve ever felt like this, you aren’t alone. As content creators, we’ve all been there. The good news is, you can get into that writing groove again by using some writing prompts.
When it comes to writing, sometimes the hardest part is just getting started. It can be a struggle to get those first few words out onto paper (or on your laptop screen). The thing is, you really just have to let go and start writing whatever comes to mind. You can worry about editing and polish the content later. You just need to focus on getting all of your thoughts and ideas out there first.
This is where writing prompts come in handy. They help you get started with a writing session by getting into that groove where the words just start flowing. The best part is that there’s no expectation when it comes to using these writing prompts. No one is going to see them but you, so that obsession with perfectionism isn’t going to hold you back. You can just write, write, write.

7 WRITING PROMPTS TO GET YOU INTO CONTENT CREATION MODE

The next time you’re having trouble with writer’s block, pick one of these writing prompts to answer. All you need to do is just let the ideas come to you and write anything that pops into your mind. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t worry about making mistakes and fixing typos. You just need to focus on writing.
After completing one or two writing prompts, you should be in full content creation mode and ready to tackle any writing projects on your plate.

1. WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT GOALS?

Personally, I love any opportunity to reflect on the goals I’ve set for myself. It’s a chance to think about what I hope to achieve, how I’m progressing, and what steps I could take next. That’s how I want you to think of this particular prompt. You can explore business goals, personal goals, health goals, or anything else.
Take this time to also reflect on how you’d feel when you accomplish those goals. What will your life look like? What would it mean to achieve those big dreams of yours? Visualize it and get those thoughts written or typed out. This can serve as a pretty powerful visualization exercise as far as writing prompts go!

2. WHAT’S ONE THING YOU WISH YOU KNEW HOW TO DO?

We all have that one thing that we wish we could do or we wish we were better at. What is that thing for you? Take some time to reflect and write all about it. Think about why you’d like to be able to do this thing and even what steps you could take to learn it. It just might motivate you to get started in the process!

3. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

If you’ve been longing to travel, this prompt is perfect for you! Where are you just dying to go next? Imagine what it would be like to travel there and what you’d do once you arrived. What kind of hotel would you like to stay in? Which sights would you enjoy seeing? What local cuisine would you love to try? Would you do any shopping? Are there any friends or family members there that you’d see?
You can really get creative here and allow your mind to be transported to wherever you’d like to visit. Use your imagination to picture the trip in your mind and write down anything you can think of.

4. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU KNEW YOU COULDN’T FAIL?

We often let a fear of failure hold us back from doing things we’d really like to do. Are you currently doing this to yourself? If so, make this one of the writing prompts you complete. This is your opportunity to think about what you want to accomplish and what it would mean if you made it happen. You should also explore that fear surrounding this particular thing so you can determine what’s really standing in your way. After all, you can’t conquer your fears without understanding them first.
Once you’re finished with this prompt, remind yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to. You can’t let that fear of failure hold you back from doing amazing things. You just need to go for it!

5. WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF OR YOUR FUTURE SELF.

If you could tell your younger self anything, what would it be? What would you tell her about the future and how to prepare for it? How could you help her address the things she’s currently struggling with. Think back to a certain age or period in your life and give that girl some helpful advice.
Do you have something you’d love to tell your future self? You can do that too! Think about where you’d like to be in the future and write a letter to that girl. This is your chance to open up and tell her anything you’d like. You can even save your letter and read it years from now. Wouldn’t that be fun?

6. WRITE A THANK YOU LETTER TO A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER.

It’s so important to take time and express gratitude for the people and things in our lives. Unfortunately, we often take all of that for granted and forget to say a simple, “thank you.” This is your opportunity to say thanks to anyone in your life. Whether they’ve done something for you or you’re just grateful for their presence, you can let all those feelings out on paper.
This is one of those writing prompts that you can keep to yourself or send to the person it’s addressed to. I’d encourage you to actually send it because it just might make that person’s day. Plus, we can all use a reminder to give thanks on a regular basis.

7. FILL A PAGE WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU SMILE.

When you’re in a slump, sometimes the best thing you can do is think of the things that put a smile on your face. Of all of the writing prompts, I think this may be the easiest one to complete. Plus, it’s a great mood booster! All you have to do is think about whatever makes you happy and jot it down. You can even elaborate on why that particular thing lights you up.
This particular prompt could really come in handy when you have an off day. You can refer to it and pick something off the list to do as a way to lift your spirits. It really does double duty when you think about it!
